Depression Lead Women to Drinking and Sexual Promiscuity

More than 15 million women have suffered mental health problems of some kind, and are twice as likely as men to be depressed, the study said.

Depression can be highly damaging, leading women to engage in “self-destructive” behaviour such as drinking, sexual promiscuity and building up debt, according to the report, released by support group Platform 51, formerly the YWCA.

The group called on ministers to review the “over-reliance” on anti-depressant drugs to treat mild and moderate mental health problems and to make counselling and psychotherapy more easily available to women.

Mariah Carey has Pregnancy Cravings

Forget pickles and ice cream — Mariah Carey is sticking to healthy snacks when it comes to pregnancy cravings.

That said, she won’t accept just anything that falls off the tree. “It has to be really good for me to like it,” she says.

Other side effects of pregnancy include expanding in more places than just her belly.

“My fingers obviously swelled a little bit,” she says. “I can’t even get this ring off if I tried.”

Are You Ready to Have Sex

It is normal to have a lot of mixed feelings about having sex with someone else. Don’t let anyone intimidate you into having sex. You can talk to the person you are attracted to, friends and family members before you decide. You can also talk about sex to confidential services including Kids Help Line.

If you choose to have sex with someone, you should think about sexually transmissible infections (STIs), including the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Canadian Government Against Anti-Prostitution Laws

The federal government will appeal an Ontario court ruling that struck down Canada's anti-prostitution laws.

Justice Minister Rob Nicholson made the announcement today in the House of Commons.

Tuesday's decision struck down three provisions of the Criminal Code surrounding prostitution -- communicating for the purposes of prostitution, keeping a common bawdy house, and living on the avails of the trade – saying they are a danger to sex workers.
