Bad Times to Start a Relationship

Timing can be one of the most important factors in establishing a successful and lasting relationship. There are times in everyone's life that are better for beginning various ventures than others, and the same goes for starting a relationship with another person.

Being attracted to someone can be very exciting and easily bring a smile to our face when we come in contact with that person, however simply being attracted doesn't mean that a relationship with that person will necessarily work.

A relationship takes work and both partners must be on the same page to make that happen and willing to adapt and compromise.

If assorted factors get in the way of this, establishing a relationship will become a very difficult and tumultuous that could end up causing the two individuals involved more stress and heartache than happiness.

So, how do you avoid this? How do you know when it's a good time to start a new relationship and when it is not? In all actuality, this is a very difficult question to answer as what is a bad time to start a relationship in one person's life might be a great time for someone else who operates under a completely different perspective. However, there are some specific times in life where it is better to hold off starting a new relationship. Some of these times include:

1. When you are unemployed, searching for a job, or simply unhappy in your current position of employment

2. When you have recently gone through a major life event, drastic change in your life, or traumatic experience

3. When you are angry, unhappy, or frustrated with your current position in life or are dealing with depression

4. When you are having major difficulties within your family or circle of friends

5. When you are preparing or training for a major challenge and need to devote your full attention to this preparation

6. When you have recently ended a long-term relationship with someone, especially if the break-up was unexpected or abrupt

7. When you are dealing with an alcohol or drug problem

The reason that it is wise to avoid beginning a relationship in these instances is because if you aren't happy and in a right state of mind yourself, it's going to be more difficult to share yourself with someone else and devote the necessary attention that is important in a relationship, especially a new one.
